Recommended Books

These are the books that I have read and I really recommended you guys to read these books too.

If I give 10 out of 10 for Bible, I would give 8-9 out of 10 for these books. I used these books as the additional sources for knowing more about God.

God really used these books to help me grow in a better understanding about Him.

You could choose one of these books first. Then when you have finished, you could try another one. I would recommend you to start with "The Purpose of Driven Life" by Rick Warren then you could choose another one.

I usually read it for about 1-3 pages a day after I read the bible and before I do my morning prayer. It takes about 30-45 minutes for me to read the bible, read one of this book and pray. It seems so hard to start but it will be easier if you have been used to read the Bible everyday before you add any additional christian books to read. Don't forget to pray before you read, because if you ask God to give you a strong desire to know Him more, He would give it to you. You would really enjoy it until you don't not realize how long you have spent your time to read the words of God 😉

I would like to share a bit about how I started read these kinds of books.

At first, some of these books (book no. 1a-c) was recommended by Aunty Maria (A Christian woman who often visited, taught, and prayed for me when I was doing my treatment in Singapore; she really inspired me to know more about God).

She asked me whether I have any other christian books to read (besides Bible) or not. Honestly, I didn't have any christian books to read besides Bible. Then she advised me to add some additional christian books to read so I can grow more in the knowledge of God. She recommended me a book and I got the copy of the book from her (no 1 a).

I was so curious and I really enjoyed to read the book. When I finish the book, she gave me another one to copy it, and so on (no. 1a-c).

When I went back to Jakarta on 2015, I started to search a christian book by myself. I went to a bookstore and suddenly I saw Jerry Bridges' Book. I tried to skim through the book and I love it so much. I bought it and after I finished reading the Jerry Bridges' book, someone (My mom's friend) gave me a book named "3 jam di Surga". I was curious and I read it too. Then after that book, I finally found the Purpose of Driven life by Rick Warren. I saw it in the display of best seller books. I tried to skim again, I got so interested and I bought it right away. After the Rick Warren's book, I haven't found any books yet that could motivate me to buy it. So for now I decided to read a daily devotional everyday as the additional after I read the Bible. I would read a christian book again for sure right after I find it.

It's actually really good for us to add these kinds of books as the additional reference of Bible. I didn't say that Bible is not enough. However if we read many books about God not only Bible, we would see another deeper meanings behind every words of God that we usually might not see it explicitly in the Bible. Actually it doesn't have to be a book. Just have a desire to know more about God and try to look for it by searching or asking.

So, I encourage you guys to read the Bible everyday (if you haven't) and read an additional Christian book if you have read the Bible :)

Ps: For the books no 1a-c, it's quite hard to find because it was published since a long time ago. So, if you are interested to read it, maybe I could give you the copy of mine.
