A Voice ||

I have a voice.

My voice is not a magical voice.

I used to hate singing

But all changed when I met Him.

Then I don't care about

How good or bad my voice anyway

But what I care about

How should I use my voice for Him

Cause God has given me a voice

So I should use my voice

To worship Him

To praise His name

No matter what happens

Cause God has given a voice

So I will use my voice for Him

To speak for Him and testify

To glorify His name

A Story behind this song

Actually, I was having a quite severe sore throat when I was trying to write this song. So, I kind of lost my voice at that time. I started to feel sad when I was going to pray because usually I always sing worship songs before I pray. Suddenly I imagined how if I couldn't get my voice back forever. My mind kept wondering about how people with speech impairment had to live their life. That kind of thinking reminded me to be more thankful for the voice and the ability to speak that God had given to me. Before I lost my voice, I kept asking God to give me a beautiful and better voice (with vibrato, etc) so I could sing better.

At the same time, I got an idea that maybe I could make a song from this incident so it could give a lesson for other people too; to be more thankful for their voice and to use their voice wisely. Since I still couldn't sing with my voice at that time, I decided to write those lyrics and pray. Few days later, I tried to make a melody for those lyrics and adjust a bit of the lyrics to the melody. And yeah.. finally I have my own first song! Actually I had this desire to write a song since a long time ago. I had told God about this too, but I just didn't know what to write. However I felt happy because through this incident. God showed me what to write.

Messages from this song:

Basically, everyone can sing. However, not everyone is good at singing. The person who sings very well indicates he/she is really good at singing or maybe a wonderful singer. For me, I’m just a common person who loves to sing but my voice is just ordinary, which means not a really bad one but not a really good one too. Nevertheless, now I’m still thankful for my voice.

Each of the lyrics has their own message.

1. I have a voice => Yes, I do have a voice. I’m not a person who has speech impairment.

2. My voice is not a magical voice => Yea, just like what I said before, my voice is just ordinary. Not really bad but not really good too.

3. I used to hate singing => Yes, I didn’t like to sing since I was a kid. Singing was not my hobby.

4. But all changed when I met Him => When I was sick since 2011-2015, my mom kept playing worship songs from an MP3 player every single day.

I didn’t realize that I started to love singing along with the MP3 player since then.

It eventually became my habits to always sing worship songs before and after I pray. I feel like the lyrics of the worship songs ease me to say what I want to say to God and the lyrics also gives me strength in many times.

7. But what I care about how I should use my voice for Him.

Have you ever felt like you love a song very much until you don’t even care about how good/ bad your voice anymore, instead your heart just wants to sing it loud.

So I want to sing for God and worship Him not because my voice is a really good.

Instead, I just can’t help myself to worship Him.

8. Cause God has given me a voice.

Yes, it’s because God has given us a voice. So let’s use our voice for saying positive things. Give our voice back to glorify God, who has given us a voice.

Just as what I said before, when I wrote this song, I had been cured from leukemia. I just had a quite bad sore throat until I lost my voice at that time. I really wanted to sing and speak but no voice came out.

There are many people in disability out there who really can’t speak and use their voice normally like we do.

However there are still many people too who don’t want to use their voice for God even though they have a voice.

They even don’t want to sing for God at their home or the church; they said they couldn’t sing. Well actually everyone can sing as long as they have a voice. It is okay if our voice is not as good as a real singer. It is also okay if we can’t sing well. God still accepts and loves us. However it’s not okay if we don’t worship Him with our heart. He looks into our heart. Just as when He came to this world, He didn’t look for a perfect person or holy person, He looked for a sinner so He could save him. He doesn’t look for a person who has a perfect character to be His disciple. He looks for a person who wants to be His disciple and He is the one who will mend his disciple’s character to perfection.

9. So I should use my voice.

Everyone who uses what he has will get more. He will have much more than he needs. But the one who does not use what he has will have everything taken away from him.’ Matthew 25:29 ICB

Without realizing it, if we keep practicing, our voice will get better.

No matter how good/ bad our condition is, we have to be grateful and worship Him because God has promised that all things will work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

And there are so many songs that can strengthen us too, so we shouldn’t wait for God to improve our voice first. Instead, worship him first and He will improve you in everything because what God sees is our sincere motivation from our heart to sing and worship Him.

God gives us a voice with a purpose. He never created something without any purpose.

When God created a bird, He gave the bird wings with a purpose so that the bird could fly. When the bird flies with its wings, the bird fulfills the purpose of its creation.

We who see the diversity variety of birds’ wings can say that God is great. That’s when God’s name being glorified.

So yeah, we were also created with a purpose. The only one who knows the purpose of our life is our Creator. However at the end, all the purposes will bring the glory of God’s name. When we bring glory for God, that’s when our life will feel so satisfying and full.

So let’s use our voice for the right thing! Don’t waste the voice that God has given us for saying negative and unimportant things! Let’s use our voice for the glory of His name 😇

Pesan dibalik lagu ini:

Pada dasarnya semua orang bisa nyanyi.

Cuma tergantung nyanyi nya bagus atau biasa2 aja. Yang bagus artinya jago nyanyi. Yang biasa aja artinya cm sekedar bisa keluarin suara buat nyanyi.

Aku termasuk yang biasa aja nevertheless now I still thank God for that.

Tujuan buat lagu ini untuk kasih tau bahwa kita ga harus jago nyanyi dlu baru nyanyi menyembah dan memuji Tuhan.

Dibalik setiap lirik dr lagu ini ada cerita.

2. My voice is not a magical voice => Tp suara aku bukan aku yang magical atau yg apa ya yg menggelegar/ yang bisa vibrato yg indah kaya penyanyi2 yg jago nyanyi.

3. I used to hate singing => Bahkan saya ga suka nyanyi tadinya krn saya merasa suara saya ga bagus.

4. But all changed when I met Him => Tapi semua berubah saat aku sakit.

Saat aku sakit dari 2011-2015, mami aku slalu pasang lagu rohani setiap hari dari pagi sampai malam baik wkt di rumah sakit atau di rumah.

Gatau kenapa aku jadi suka banget dengerin lagu rohani dan lama2 aku hafal dan suka ikut nyanyi. Sampai lagu rohani itu selalu ada di setiap pembukaan dan penutupan doa aku sampai hari ini. Aku merasa lirik lagu itu di 1 sisi mempermudah aku untuk mengekspresikan perasaan dan apa yang aku mau ngomongin ke Tuhan. Tapi di sisi lain disaat yang sama lirik lagu itu jg bisa menguatkan aku.

Misal mau memuji Tuhan nyanyi ku sembah kau Tuhan. Sebab kau besar.

Lagi sedih/ hancur hati: “ kala ku cari damai/ saat keadaan di skelilingku mengecewakan perasaanku.

Lagi senang: “Hari yang terindah; adalah sukacita di hatiku; Kaulah Sukacita, Bagai rajawali.”

Lagi bersyukur: “Kunaikkan syukurku buat hari yang Kau Bri, Trimakasih Yesusku buat anugerah yang Kau beri."

Lagi ada masalah: “apa yang tak pernah dilihat mata; Ku takan pernah menyerah sampai kulihat Kau bekerja.” Jangan nyanyi “ku terjatuh dan tak bisa bangkit lagi, haha.” Makin down jadinyaa.

Lagi kesal nyanyi : “Father dwell in me mend my heart make it clean; Brikanku hati seperti hatimu; ajarku mengasihi,”

Dan bener kok aku rasain sendiri, saat aku down, sedih, terpuruk, kesal, itu semua menguatkan aku. Kalau butuh referensi judul lagu-lagu untuk keadaan, aku akan share disini ya.

Pernah ga sih suka sama lagu yang sampe bodo amat teriak2 nyanyinya mau bagus mau jelek, pokoknya hati ini pengen nyanyi.

Nah, Jadi aku itu mau nyanyi memuji Tuhan bukan karena suara aku bagus, no.

Tapi karena dari hati ini aku pengen banget nyanyi lagu sebelum doa, sampai aku ngerasa bodo amat mau bagus mau jelek, pokoknya gua mau nyanyi buat Tuhan. Ya nyanyi ya ga harus diluar di gereja, nyanyi bisa kok di kamar waktu kt berdoa sendiri lebih enak malah bebas teriak2 hahha.

Karena Tuhan ud kasih kita suara. Coba gunakanlah suara yg Tuhan ud kasih untuk hal yg berguna jangan gosip, jangan fitnah, jgn ngomong kasar/ kotor.

Pakailah suara yang ud Tuhan kasih buat Tuhan lagi.

Just as what I said, Waktu aku buat lagu ini, aku ud sembuh dr kanker, cm lagi sakit tenggorokan sampe abis suaranya. Aku saat itu pengen banget nyanyi tp gada suara yg keluar. Dr situ aku sadar, gmana ya rasanya kl ga punya suara.

Yang ga punya suara pengen bgt punya suara buat nyanyi. Tp masih banyak org yang ga mau nyanyi untuk Tuhan meski di rumah sendiri tanpa orang aja ga mau, bilangnya ga bisa nyanyi. Padahal smua orang bisa, gapapa jelek juga Tuhan ga liat bagaimana suara kita bernyanyi untuk memuji Dia. Yang Tuhan liat bagaimana hati kita, apakah kita benar2 mau bernyanyi untuk memuji dan menyembah Tuhan?

Tuhan ga nyari yang perfect kok, Tuhan nyari yang mau. Tuhan juga dateng ke dunia ini bukan buat orang yang sehat atau yg ngerasa ga pnya dosa, Tuhan datang untuk orang berdosa.

Dia ga nyari orang yang sempurna secara karakter untuk jd muridnya,

Dia nyari orang yg mau jadi muridNya dan Dia yang akan membentuk karakter orang itu jadi perfect.

Barangsiapa menggunakan apa yg diberikan akan diberikan lebih banyak.

Tp yg tidak akan hilang.

Secara ga sadar, pas aku ga suka nyanyi suara aku fals bgt lho, tp pas aku seneng nyanyi dan tiap hari nyanyi buat Tuhan, itu lama2 suara kita juga terlatih.

Kita harus gunakan suara kita untuk Tuhan baik bagus atau ngga, pakailah suara kita untuk hal yg berguna.

11. To praise His name = Untuk memuji Tuhan

12. No matter what happens = Apapun yang terjadi

Dan ga peduli baik atau buruk keadaan kita, kita harus selalu bersyukur dan memuji Tuhan, banyak lagu2 yg bisa menguatkan kita, kita jga ga perlu tunggu suara kita bagus dulu untuk memuji Tuhan, melainkan pujilah Tuhan dulu dan Dia yang akan buat jd perfect karena yang Tuhan liat adalah ketulusan motivasi dari hati kita untuk bernyanyi menyembahNya.

Yesaya 29:13 "Dan Tuhan telah berfirman: "Oleh karena bangsa ini datang mendekat dengan mulutnya dan memuliakan Aku dengan bibirnya, padahal hatinya menjauh dari pada-Ku dan ibadahnya kepada-Ku hanyalah perintah manusia yang dihafalkan,"

13. To speak for Him and testify = untuk berbicara bagi Tuhan dan bersaksi

14. To glorify His name = untuk memuliakan namaNya

Tuhan memberikan kita suara dengan tujuan. Tuhan ga pernah menciptakan apapun tanpa ada tujuannya.

Ciptaan mencapai tujuan hidupnya ketika ia menggenapi tujuan ia di ciptakan dan yang tau itu penciptaNya.

Saat Tuhan menciptakan sayap di Burung artinya tujuan Tuhan ciptakan sayap itu supaya burung bisa terbang. Ketika burung itu terbang dengan sayap yg digunakannya, burung itu menggenapi tujuan dari penciptaannya dan akhirnya membawa kemuliaan bagi penciptanya. Kita yg liat burung yg macem2 bentuknya trus bisa terbang kemana aja kan mulai berkata “hebat yah Tuhan bisa menciptakan burung ini yg begitu indah.”

So yeah, kita juga diciptakan dengan tujuan. Yang tau tujuannya adalah pencipta kita. Pada akhirnya semua tujuan itu untuk membawa kemuliaan nama Tuhan. Saat kita bs bawa kemuliaan bagi nama Tuhan, hidup ini baru terasa penuh dan puas.

Oleh sebab itu yuk gunakan suara yang telah Tuhan berikan dengan benar, jangan buang-buang suara kita hal-hal yang negatif dan hal-hal yg tidak berguna, yuk pakai suara kita untuk memuliakan nama Tuhan! 😇
